Christmas Eve Mass in Merida

Today is the Winter solstice and many people in Merida are finalizing their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plans. If attending Holy Mass on the 24th is a part of your usual custom, you will be interested to know that a joyful Christmas Eve Mass will be celebrated in English at:

7:00 pm

Las Monjas Church on Calle 63 between Calle 64 & 66, Merida, Centro

The priest officiating is José Arruda who has recently moved to our city from Montreal.

As well, a small “improv” choir is being assembled. If you enjoy singing (you don’t have to be a “virtuoso” … all willing voices are welcome! ) or if you can play a guitar, tambourine, castanets, bells, bongos or whatever… and would like to be part of the group, drop me an email so that I can give you further information:

I hope to see you then!

  1. Happy holidays to you and yours Joanna. So happy to hear you have all of your kith and kin near for the festive season. Will see you late Feb as I have rented a beach house in Progresso with my Sister and family.

    Seasons greetings!

  2. This is to let everyone know that Jim Smiley will be having his annual Christmas Carol Singalong this Sunday, 22 December, at 915pm (2100h) at the Jesuit Third Order church (where he donated his beauitiful organ). The church is located at Calles 59 x 60 – kitty corner from Burger King and beside either Hidalgo Park or the Maternity Park. Come along and bring your family and friends for a wonderful evening to celebrate the Yuletide.

    1. The Christmas Eve Mass was amazing, wasn’t it? Spiritual and peaceful… I so appreciated you and Gary and your contribution to the “joyful noise” I hope 2014 brings us many opportunities to enjoy more of one another’s company
